FAQ

Here are a few Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ). If you have other questions, please Contact Us.

Who will be teaching my child?

TC Scholars is managed by Tuesday’s Child – a nonprofit organization serving families for more than 35 years. We have a proud history of being highly-respected early childhood experts. The Preschool is directly managed by Katie Conklin, LPC. She is Tuesday’s Child Executive Director with a Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education and Counseling with past experience as an Illinois Licensed Early Childhood Teacher. TC Scholars hires the most qualified and professional staff to ensure development of our students’ academic and social-emotional learning. Get to know our staff.

When did TC Scholars open?

TC Scholars opened its doors in September 2016 with a half-day program. Based on the program’s success, we expanded to a full day program in 2018.

What is the enrollment process?

We welcome families to join TC Scholars Preschool through a tour and informational session. When you are ready to proceed, families will Complete an Application. Families that have not already been through the Tuesday’s Child Behavioral Intervention program will first join us for an intake appointment. Parents will meet with Rachel Surprenant, Program Director, to review their intake paperwork, answer questions and ensure the program is a good fit for your child. Children will be placed in our existing behaviorally-focused classrooms for 2.5 hours for a play session to observe your child. Families will be notified within one month of their intake/play session regarding their acceptance. If you choose to accept a placement with TC Scholars, we ask families to place a $1,000 deposit to secure their child’s spot in our program.

My child does not have behavioral challenges, can I still enroll?

Yes. We understand that not every child that could benefit from additional social-emotional support will have behavioral challenges.

Is my child a good fit?

Identifying if your child is a good fit will require a formal intake and play session in our classrooms. We will schedule this with your family after an application has been submitted. If for any reason our multi-disciplinary staff feel that TC Scholars is not the best fit for your child we will provide referrals or recommendations to an appropriate preschool placement.

Are there other financial expectations besides tuition?

No. TC Scholars is designed to make tuition clear and simple for families. While we welcome additional fundraising support from families, there is no requirement for families to participate. In addition, our fees are inclusive of all materials, field trips and other ancillary expenses.

Do you offer scholarships?

Currently TC Scholars is unable to provide scholarships to families. We hope that within 2-3 years we will be able to support children that would benefit from our program, but unable to afford it, options and accessibility.
